Case Studies

Logistics

As business expanded, its straight truck, Monday through Friday transportation strategy failed to keep pace. It restricted growth and created other supply chain issues. Additionally, day-to-day transportation management consumed time and resources better spent on core business matters.

Atlantic performed a logistics analysis and crafted a transportation strategy for the company that included:

  • Mixing the equipment fleet by reducing the number of straight trucks and adding high-capacity tractor trailers
  • Adding overnight service
  • Extending service to seven days a week

As a result, supply chain flow improved, fresh products reached store shelves faster, transportation costs shrunk, and liability and transportation management responsibility transferred to American Trailer Leasing.

Trailer Rental

When Covid struck, retail was shut down but raw products were still enroute to warehouses. Without the ability to move product into retail stores, warehouses were quicky overwhelmed. Many customers leased additional space but, as retail remained shut down, this space was also quickly consumed.

Many of the area’s key companies called on Atlantic for overflow relief. We quickly delivered dry van trailers to multiple customers. We loaded and transported the trailers to our secure yard for storage.

As Covid restrictions abated and retail reopened, warehouse space freed up and we returned the trailers to customer sites for offloading. During Covid’s peak, we stored over 600 trailers of customer products in our yard.

Container Modification

Hurricane Katrina caused wide-spread flooding throughout New Jersey shore communities resulting in many structures being damaged beyond resurrection. Critical services had to rethink their strategies to survive subsequent weather crisis.

For example, a client hired us to fabricate and install an emergency animal shelter using a modular system of shipping containers. Working in close collaboration with our customer, we created a shelter that provided lighting, climate control, easy access, and materials designed for cleanliness and low maintenance. We built the multi-unit structure and transported it to the customer’s site. Our technicians secured the units to pylons above the high-water mark and installed the necessary connections.
